I have the honor to request that His Excellency the Governor will forward the enclosed letter to the Secretary of State by the next Mail, also that His Excellency will kindly make his comments on the same, lending his powerful influence to words forwarding the success of my petition:

I have also the honor to request the favor of His Excellency's writing to Sir Henry Barkly, stating the difficulties I have met in this Colony, and prosecuting my journey to Mauritius.
